The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen

The Girl Who Chased the MoonI have never read any books by this author before, but it was a good pick! The strange and wonderful town of Mullaby, North Carolina is entrancing, especially to someone who has never visited the South before. The characters are endearing and different, very refreshing for modern literature.

My favorite aspect of the novel was the magical realism that showed up in hints throughout the story. The magical aspects are not overdone and are reminiscent of real life and those occasional oddities that are inexplicable. I would recommend this book to fans of Alice Hoffman’s “The River King”, because it is a similar style of writing but a little more lighthearted.
