Groundwork: a gardener’s ecology by Roger B. Swain

GroundworkWhen you are hot, dirty, and well-stretched from hours in the garden, sit in the shade with Groundwork. Author Roger B. Swain’s down-home advice and humor are beguiling, and his solid horticultural knowledge stems from a PhD in biology and decades on the farm. Perhaps you saw him years ago on PBS’s “The Victory Garden” or have read his articles. He was the science editor of Horticulture magazine. The full range of gardeners, from novice to expert, find much to consider in his writings. Note that the final chapter puts in a plug for our national system of Cooperative Extension Services. Lane County Extension Service sponsors the very helpful Master Gardener Program. Check it out.

So glad you posted this! Otherwise I wouldn’t have known of it. BTW – yesterday I visited the new OSU Extension Service offices on Jefferson – much larger and improved.
