Kids Can Cook: Vegetarian Recipes by Dorothy Bates

Kids Can CookI did pick this book up from the library to see if it was a good one to use with my four year old grandson, and while it seems a little advanced for him, upon flipping through, I think it is a book I will keep in mind for a little later down the road.

I have yet to try any of the recipes, but they look good, and there is a slim bit in the front on nutritional tips for vegetarian children, most useful.

I absolutely love the page with illustrations of kitchen tools, brilliant.

The format is straightforward and easy to read, something one could easily glance at and find your place while preparing a recipe.

There are all the chapters normally found in a cookbook, from breads, soups, main dishes, salads, and desserts, to party foods. In addition there is a great little page on setting the table and a page on how to be a successful cook.

This is designed as a book to use with kids, but I think many an adult could get some use from the uncomplicated directions.

I particularly want to try the ” Caramel Fried Apples” recipe on page 129.
