Empire Falls by Richard Russo

empire fallsI love Russo’s writing style – incredibly detailed, a fair amount of sarcasm, and observing feelings. Not a lot of drama and usually in a depressed, small community which has seen better times. This particular book is a character study of a very “nice” man who is in the process of getting divorced, taking care of a teen, and running a restaurant. Versus the local heiress who is always looking to take advantage of situations (“power and control”).
