Digging to America by Anne Tyler

Digging to AmericaIn this novel, Anne Tyler brings together two unlikely families as friends. They meet at the airport in the beginnings of the book, while meeting and retrieving their newly adopted baby daughters who are arriving from Korea.

The book explores family life and cultural differences, one of the families being Iranian, the other, all-American. Cultural sensitivity, assimilation, foreignness, and the general melting pot effect are each examined as the plot unfolds. Lovely book!
