Roger Fishbite by Emily Prager

Roger FishbiteIf you absolutely love the book or movie “Lolita,” this book is worth your time. You have to admire Prager’s ability to turn a relationship between a curious teen and what would now be considered a registered sex offender into a somewhat lighthearted coming of age tale.

The whole time reading it, I couldn’t decide which character disgusted me more, the naive girl or her creepy downstairs neighbor turned step-father. Maybe it’s my morals talking, but the fact that the main character knows “Fishbite” is a full-blown perv and is about 20 years older than her, but still proceeds to tease, flirt with and proposition him makes her just as much a villain.

This novel has a pretty rosy ending, considering that that very same behavior in the real world would put “Lucky” Linderhof on the fast track to getting murdered and buried in a field somewhere.
