The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes

The Shining GirlsIf you like linear stories then this is NOT the book for you. But if you want a mystery with a plot that keeps you engaged and is hard to guess at then you should read The Shining Girls. Chapters alternate between characters’ point-of-view and time. It takes a bit of work to follow, but that’s good for someone like me who tends to jump ahead in the book when I get bored. I never got bored with this story or the characters. The characters are well-developed and interesting. It has an ending that leaves you satisfied but still wondering and contemplating time. I’m still savoring it a day later. I should also note that there is some gore, foul language, and sex.
