Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter

Find in the catalogI picked up this book on a “Lucky Day” shelf at my local branch library, and what a treat! The story follows the inter-woven lives of it’s several characters, going easily from their present day to their joint pasts.  It is a commentary somewhat on Hollywood, its personalities and their excesses, exploring fame and how it affects people, but the larger theme is about the choices we make in life.  No one knows what will come after we choose a given fork in the road.  I really enjoyed Jess Walter’s descriptions and dialogue.  Pick this book up, it is diverting and entertaining.  I highly recommend it!
