The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley

I loved this book! It has great characters, especially the protagonist (an 11 year old aspiring chemist named Flavia), a setting I find enchanting (an estate in 1950s England), a slowly unraveled mystery (stranger found dead – who is he? who did it? is he really a stranger?), and fun British English that kept me smiling. I listened to the audio version and give the reader an A+. My only regret in listening instead of reading was the inability to experience the language on the page. I just may read it, too. If you like this book, try I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith.
